How Atcon's AC Energy Saver works?

How do ACs work?

An air conditioner (AC) uses a refrigerant to absorb heat and humidity from indoor air and transfer it outside through a cycle of evaporation and condensation. The four main components involved are the compressor, evaporator coil, condenser coil, and expansion valve. The compressor pumps and compresses the refrigerant gas, raising its temperature and pressure. The hot, high-pressure gas then flows to the condenser coil, releasing its heat to the outside environment and condensing into a liquid. The liquid refrigerant then flows through an expansion valve, lowering its pressure and temperature, causing it to evaporate and absorb heat from indoor air. The now-cool air is blown back into the room by the AC’s fan.

The AC operates within a single temperature band, cooling the air to a specific temperature and maintaining that temperature within a certain range. The thermostat signals the compressor to turn on and off as needed to maintain the set temperature. By operating within a single temperature band, ACs create a comfortable indoor environment and help control humidity levels. The compressor consumes the most electricity, so it’s essential to choose an appropriately sized AC and maintain it regularly to minimize energy consumption.

Brain behind our AC Energy Saver

Atcon R&D team has conducted extensive research on air conditioning systems and studied their working patterns under various conditions and situations to develop its flagship range of AC Energy Saver. They have developed a proprietary algorithm that controls the compressor to prevent any inefficiency modes, such as thermodynamic saturation. In the thermodynamic saturation, the compressor continues to run but doesn’t provide additional cooling or comfort, leading to excess electricity consumption.

The algorithm also utilizes our proprietary Variable Temperature Technology (VTT), which adjusts the temperature band based on the heat load inside the conditioned space. This means that the AC doesn’t cool the air to a fixed temperature but varies it based on the prevailing heat load in conditioned space. As a result, it reduces energy consumption, provides greater comfort, and maintains the desired temperature within a specific range.

The saturation check feature in ATCON AC Energy Savers is essential for preventing excessive AC operation. It continuously monitors temperature and humidity, preventing overcooling and conserving energy. When the cooling process effectively reaches desired comfort levels, the saturation check instructs the AC to pause or reduce the cooling cycle, ensuring both comfort and energy savings.

Using this algorithm, Atcon AC Energy Saver controls ACs offer a higher amount of energy efficiency in comparison to conventional ACs. It not only reduces energy consumption but also provides greater comfort by dynamically adjusting the temperature based on the prevailing conditions. This technology has the potential to save significant amounts of energy and reduce the overall carbon footprint of air conditioning systems, making them more environmentally friendly.

Our Technology

VTT and Saturation Check features are the driving force behind our AC Power Saver, flexibly adapting the temperature range to match the current heat load within the conditioned space.
